This week's new listing is an attached rowhouse built in 1900 located in Shaw. The home has all the prerequisite amenities: hardwood floors, granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances in the kitchen and skylights on the upper level for additional light. In addition, it has a 1 bedroom/1 bathroom in law suite with a separate entrance in the basement. The income from the in-law suite (it could potentially rent for $1500-$1700) could offset mortgage costs. It's also located 4 blocks to the Shaw Metro and it's steps to Bar Boehm, Thai X-ing and Shaw Tavern.

First Friday is a weekly post that features a listing that's been on the market for 7 days or less. The home is either an excellent deal or it has interesting design elements.
This time next week, I'll be on vacation at the beach and I can.not.wait. To make it through this marathon work week, I needed a little beach inspiration. This lovely room is from a gorgeous home in the Hamptons. My view won't be as refined but it will certainly be as lovely. Let the count down begin.
This weeks new listing is a charming co-op in Cleveland Park. The low fees of $390 a month include taxes and utilities. There's no underlying mortgage. The unit also shares a fantastic common backyard with grill & above ground pool. The co-op is located one block to Cleveland Park Metro and retail. Open House 1-4pm on June 24th, 2012.
Have you read the new issue of Rue? The June/July issue is always dedicated to travel and in this issue, they've featured homes in Sweden, Paris and Malaysia. The photo above is from a flat in Paris and I'm smitten. I bet you know why: marble counter tops, grey cabinents and that over the top light fixture. The entire place is fantastic and makes me want to go to Paris right now. Enjoy!
In April, I featured this lovely condo at Dupont Lofts. The building, a former auto repair shop, was built in 1870. It was converted into condos in 2005 and it's one of the few authentic loft buildings in DC.
Blue and white is a classic color combo but it also can be modern like this bedroom. J'adore the funky wallpaper and quilt, the ikat pillows, the over sized floor lamp and the striking light fixture. Dying to to re-create the look yourself? Get the look below.

Recently, I was flipping through a West Elm catalog and I noticed an interesting abstract painting. I love that West Elm features independent artists from Esty. The artist was West Virginian Lauren Adams and I was instantly intrigued.
Both of are parents are from WV and they hold any artist/artisan from WV in high regard. When I saw this water color that was inspired by a WV Spring morning, I knew it'd be a perfect gift for my Mom. In fact, it's a perfect gift for anyone because it's an original piece of art for $25. It's not big but my Mom has a gallery wall where it would fit beautifully.
Lauren has a variety of paintings, both large and small, that are captivating. Check out her shop on Etsy and add your own piece of original art to your home.

Rise Bakery, located at 2409 18th St, NW in Adams Morgan, is a gluten-free bakery. This is monumental news in my gluten free world. A couple of months ago, my husband popped by there and grabbed a few things: a bag of bagels, a loaf of bread, a banana nut muffin and a cinnamon roll. They were delicious and I was so exited. Good gluten free bread and pastries are hard to find. I had an appointment today in Adams […]
