The largest DC sale in April was a Beaux Arts Mansion built in 1919 and designed by architect Clarke Waggaman. The home is four levels, has 3 fireplaces, 12’+ ceilings, original hardwood floors, an elevator and many architectural details like decorative crown moldings. It’s also been modernized with an updated kitchen and bathrooms.
If last weekend was any indication, summer 2015 is going to be fun. On Friday afternoon, I snuck off to Annapolis for a boat ride. It was a treat to get out of DC and onto the water for a couple of hours.Saturday I worked and saw a bunch of cute houses and condos. This door knocker was on a house off Dupont Circle. I love the classic combo of black and gold.
I also spent some time in Capitol Hill. How cute are the brightly colored row houses? DC is so picturesque.
My brother was in town too and we went to Estadio for brunch on Sunday. It was my first visit for brunch and it was delicious!
My husband and I went to a few cookouts where we enjoyed the weather. (He is such a goof ball!)
It was action packed which is exactly how I like my weekends. How was yours?
Slowly but surely, my living room is coming together. The first major purchase was the rug and people, it’s gorgeous. It changes the entire character of the room and I LOVE it. There was a major freak out about the size. This bad boy is 10′ x 14′ and my living room is an odd shape. First, I tried it one way. Then another. Eventually I realized I need to re-imagine the entire room. I needed to leave my preconceived notions of how it looks now and imagine what it’s going to look like in the future. It took a minute. There was *a little* panic because I wasn’t sure if I could return the rug if it was too big. Thankfully it all worked out.
The next step is ordering the couch. I’ve decided what I want but not the color. Originally, I was thinking a grey couch with blue undertones would work. It doesn’t. Stay tuned!
Thanks to everyone who attended the DC Wise + J. Crew event last night. The turnout was fantastic and I appreciate your support! I’d also like to thank J. Crew for hosting the event, Georgetown Cupcakes for donating the adorable mini cupcakes and Pinstripes for providing the catering.
Don’t forget the DC Wise and J. Crew event is today from 4-8 at the Georgetown J. Crew. We’re raising money for a great cause, Fair Girls and as little as $25 can make a difference. Plus there’s champagne, cupcakes and shopping. Sounds like a fun evening to me!
*J. Crew Georgetown has Crew Cuts, Petites and Men’s. For the gentleman, J. Crew suiting will be on sale too!*
**If you can’t make it, donate here. Every dollar makes a difference.**
Today I’m taking over the We The People DC instagram handle. What’s We the People DC? They describe at as “view(ing) our nation’s Capital from the perspective of it’s people”. I’ve been following for a couple of weeks and it’s fascinating to see what DC’s residents are doing. If you’re curious to see how my Thursday is shaping up, follow along!

Rise Bakery, located at 2409 18th St, NW in Adams Morgan, is a gluten-free bakery. This is monumental news in my gluten free world. A couple of months ago, my husband popped by there and grabbed a few things: a bag of bagels, a loaf of bread, a banana nut muffin and a cinnamon roll. They were delicious and I was so exited. Good gluten free bread and pastries are hard to find. I had an appointment today in Adams […]
