Burger, Tap & Shake

Burger tap shakeLast week, my husband and I decided to check out Burger, Tap & Shake.  I worked in Foggy Bottom for years and I was eager to see the changes since Whole Foods had opened.  I never understood (beyond attending GW) why anybody would live there. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice neighborhood. Trader Joe's is great but there were no decent restaurants besides Bayou and Marcel's. Two decent dining options doesn't do it for me.  Once again, Whole Foods and the surrounding complex has changed the landscape of a DC neighborhood.  I was impressed with the vibrancy of the area.

When Whole Food opened, so did three new restaurants: Circa, Burger, Tap & Shake and District Commons.  I haven't made it to Circa or District Commons yet but Burger, Tap & Shake was an enjoyable experience.

In addition to my 6 Buck Chuck burger (which they cook to order..yea!), I had a milkshake.  It's at the top of my DC milk shake list. Real vanilla beans make a huge difference in the flavor.  My burger was also fantastic.

My husband had the Big Daddy Burger: smoked Benton bacon, buttermilk blue cheese, Lea&Perrins mushrooms plus AP sauce.  He was not as impressed with his burger.  He felt it was too salty and the smoked bacon overpowered the rest of the flavors.

Overall, I'll be visiting Burger, Tap & Shake again.  I also just made reservations to try District Commons.  Wahoo!
