master bathroom reveal!

After months of planning and three weeks of construction, the master bathroom renovation is done! I am thrilled with the results and the photos speak for themselves. The biggest change was transforming the shower stall into a vanity for my husband.  While it was never a hardship to share one vanity, having two is superb. There are many things I love about the new vanities: there’s a medicine cabinet! Two drawers of storage! My favorite is the One Forty Three light. I love color but kept the finishes neutral. The light is my one pop of color and it makes me smile. One Forty Three made them in a custom size and color but they were still affordable at $175 each. A million times better, right?  The bathroom feels larger and the amount of storage we gained is insane. I *actually* don’t have enough stuff to put in the medicine cabinet, vanity drawers and the tall cabinet near the tub. For the floors, I used a 14″ x 16″ porcelain tile by Storka. For the tub and the vanity alcoves, I used a 1.9″ x 7.8″ matte white subway tile laid vertically.  I can’t find a link for it but it came from Home Depot. I also added 2 overhead 9″ LED lights from ylighting.  The faucets and shower are by Moen, the Eva line. Next on the agenda is adding art and accessories. Shout out to Justin Mattice of Mattice Designs for taking my ideas and making them into a reality. He was instrumental in sourcing the tile, cabinets, and vanities. He was also really patient. I had 8000 questions and...

have you heard of havenly?

One of my favorite parts of being a real estate agent is looking at how people decorate their spaces.  Recently, the ladies of Havenly reached out to see if I’d heard about their platform. While I’d seen it floating around the internet, I hadn’t taken a hard look at how it operated. When I did, it sounded like something my clients would utilize. So what is it?  Havenly offers online interior design services and rooms start at $199. I looked at their portfolio and I was impressed.  They’re creating beautiful, interesting rooms from online sources only.  It’s kind of genius especially for those that hate shopping in real time. While I haven’t worked with them personally (unfortunately all my rooms are fully designed), I’ll be sharing their information with my clients. image from Havenly...

new living room furniture!!

After months of plotting and planning, the new living room furniture is here!  Squeeeee! While I wish I could take credit for all this loveliness, I can’t.  I had an interior designer help.  Sometimes you have to admit your weaknesses.  I’m really good at furniture (I found the chair and the couch) but not so good at rugs and art.  I had been contemplating updating the living room for years but was paralyzed to choose a rug.  There’s a million choices and they’re expensive!  Through Emily Henderson’s blog, I started following her former co-worker Orlando Soria.  He works with Homepolish and the rooms he designed were spectacular.  Intrigued, I found Homepolish offers their services in DC and I signed up.  My designer was Lauren and she found my incredible rug, those beautiful lamps, pillows and the art.  It’s everything I imagined and very, very me. I wanted something colorful but comfortable, a mix of classic and modern.  I think she nailed it!...

It started with this pool.  It’s been hot and humid in DC and daily, I wish I had a pool.  My own private pool..not a pool to share with the masses.  Then I looked at the rest of the photos of this house and I was impressed.  I see a lot of great real estate but this place is stunning. For the entire tour, go to Domaine. All photos from Domaine Magazine by Tessa...

table top ideas | thanksgiving

Can you believe it’s November and Thanksgiving is around the corner?  I know we’re only four days into November and most people are thinking about voting (did you vote today? if you haven’t, make sure you do!).  Meanwhile, I’m already thinking of how I’m going to set the table for Thanksgiving and what sort of gifts I’ll be giving for the holidays.  I know. I’m one of those people. This year I thought it’d be fun to mix rustic and glam.  I use white plates so the rest of the table elements can be colorful.  For the pièce de résistance, I’d add a orange mini pumpkins and white candles.  Cute, right? 1. Forged Leaf Garland $26.00 2. Dahlia placemats $10.00 3. Burlap table runner $12.00 4. Metallic stripe...
