Four Logan Circle Storefronts, Four Different Reopening Clocks

  • November 5, 2026

"Opened today (7am-9pm) as they said!"

That was a reader named Jessica, writing to PoPville on August 20 about Pura Vida at 1443 P Street NW, the corner that had been Commissary. The phrase that stands out is "as they said." Opening dates on P and 14th Streets don't usually hold up that well. Three other well-known Logan Circle rooms are in some stage of coming back, and none of them runs on a date the new tenant fully controls.

What actually sets each date is worth knowing. For one room it's the city's alcohol board calendar. For another it's a notice sent to the residents of the condo building upstairs. For the third it's where the address falls in a chain's expansion order. That tells you more about when you'll eat or drink in these rooms than any "coming soon" sign.

The Four Rooms at a Glance

Address Former tenant New name What sets the date Date on record
1443 P St NW Commissary Pura Vida The chain's own announced opening Opened August 20, 2026
1833 14th St NW Bar Pilar The Last Straw DC ABCA license hearings November 9 and December 9, 2026
1423 P St NW Logan Tavern Petty Betty Construction notice to The Hudson residents Completion forecast August/September 2026
1333 14th St NW Slipstream Springbone Kitchen Order of the chain's DC rollout Late January or February

The rest of this post goes in that order: the one that's settled first, then the ones still waiting on someone else's calendar.

1443 P Street Has Already Settled In

Pura Vida's Logan Circle location lists current hours of 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. The all-day menu covers the Perfect Egg Sandwich, an Avocado Salmon bowl, Jen's Herb salad, smoothies and coffee. In its own description, the company calls the space a stop "just steps from 14th Street" with outdoor seating under "signature blue umbrellas."

This is the baseline for the rest of the list. PoPville had covered Commissary's end in July 2024, which means the corner sat between tenants for about two years. Once Pura Vida named a date, the date held. That's what an opening looks like when the operator is the only one setting the schedule.

1833 14th Street Runs on the ABC Board's Calendar

The Last Straw has the most detailed plan and the most public calendar of the four. Bar Pilar's old space at 1833 14th Street NW is being taken over by Karl Keane, Brian Hillery and Donagh Gilhooly, the team behind Exiles on U Street and Easy Tiger in Adams Morgan, along with Leon Kent, formerly of Fadó, Red Hen and All-Purpose. That's according to a PoPville report from October 19. PoPville wrote that the big downstairs bar is "untouched" and that the team is aiming for "a proper casual neighborhood bar," with a more sports-themed look.

According to that report, the plan includes:

  • Eight TVs and a giant projector screen
  • Chelsea for the English Premier League, with every match shown with sound, and the Eagles for the NFL
  • DJs upstairs late on weekend nights
  • "Elevated bar food" from the old Pilar kitchen: burgers, wings, salmon, steak frites and, for an Eagles bar, a cheesesteak
  • Guinness and five other taps across a big bar downstairs and a small bar upstairs

PoPville said the team hoped to open in time for Halloween weekend. The bar's own website says "coming soon." The dates that are actually on public record come from the city. A DC Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration notice lists Easynow, LLC, trading as The Last Straw, as an applicant for a new Retailer's Class "C" Tavern license at this address. Its schedule runs as follows:

  1. September 4, 2026: placard posted
  2. October 19, 2026: protest petition deadline, the same day PoPville published its story
  3. November 9, 2026, 10 a.m.: roll call hearing
  4. December 9, 2026, 1:30 p.m.: protest hearing

The same notice gives the size of the room the team is planning for: seating for 89, a total occupancy load of 99, and a 16-seat sidewalk café. The application also asks for a carry-out and delivery endorsement, a holiday extension of hours, and an entertainment endorsement for the inside of the bar. The requested hours are 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Friday and Saturday, with live entertainment from 6 p.m. to close. These are the hours the applicant asked for, not hours anyone has posted on the door.

There's also a small geography lesson in the filing. The notice places 1833 14th Street in Ward 1 and ANC 1B. Most people would call this stretch of 14th part of Logan Circle, but for licensing purposes the room answers to a different ward and commission than the blocks around the circle itself.

1423 P Street Answers to The Hudson

Logan Tavern closed in October 2025. Its comeback was announced through a building notice, not a press release. In August, PoPville shared a notice addressed "Dear Hudson Residents," the condo building above the space at 1423 P Street NW. It said that "Petty Betty, a wine bar concept," was coming. The notice put the start of remodeling at Monday, August 17, 2026, with "an expected completion date in August/September 2026."

Two details make this room different. First, the work covers only "one side of the retail space formerly known as Logan Tavern," so the old tavern's footprint is being split, not handed whole to one new tenant. Second, the schedule was written for the people living upstairs, because construction in a mixed-use building is something residents get notice about. The building's timetable for the work came out before any opening date for the bar itself.

1333 14th Street Waits Its Turn in a Rollout

Slipstream moved from 1333 14th Street NW to the Studio Theatre building in 2024. In October, a reader asked PoPville about "major construction at the old slipstream on 14th." PoPville's answer came from a worker inside the space. Springbone Kitchen is coming, "hoping to open here in late January or February."

The order of the chain's openings explains that date. Springbone opened its first DC location in Georgetown in December 2025, then a second on M Street in April 2026 in the old Roti space. Logan Circle is next, and according to the same worker, Arlington comes after that. That puts about four months between the first two DC openings and roughly nine or ten months between M Street and a target of late January or February 2027 on 14th. 14th Street is the third stop in a sequence, and a delay anywhere in that sequence affects this storefront too. The company describes its food as simple and nourishing, built around bone broth simmered every day.

The First Sunday Already Has a Date

One part of this corner already runs on a fixed schedule, and it sits right next to the papered-up Slipstream windows. The Logan Market, a free creative and vintage market, sets up on the first Sunday of every month. A spring listing on Partiful describes it as running along 14th Street "between @kbirdbar / Slipstream and @barrelhousecafeandbar," with 25-plus vendors selling vintage, handmade goods, art, jewelry and home décor. District Bridges lists the organizers as Logan Circle Main Street, K-Bird, Barrel House Cafe & Bar and LOVERS Plant Studio & Wares, with activity spreading along P Street and Rhode Island Avenue NW.

The next date after this post goes up is Sunday, December 6, 2026. One vendor, Fast Snail, lists it from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1333 P Street NW near 14th and P, with the market running over to Barrel House. That puts the December market three days before The Last Straw's protest hearing on December 9, and roughly two months or more ahead of Springbone's target for the storefront the market already borders.

For anyone walking this corner through the winter, the dates line up like this:

  • Now: Pura Vida is open at 1443 P Street, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. most days.
  • November 9: the ABC Board holds its roll call hearing for The Last Straw.
  • December 6: the Logan Market returns to 14th and P.
  • December 9: the protest hearing for The Last Straw's license.
  • Late January or February: Springbone Kitchen's target for 1333 14th Street.

Petty Betty's only published timeline is The Hudson's construction notice, and its August/September window has passed.
