Charcoal Grey Kitchen

In March, I day dreamed about painting my kitchen cabinets charcoal grey. Last week, it finally happened and I’m so pleased with the results! It’s called Charcoal Smudge and it’s from Dunn Edwards. Dunn Edwards is a paint store chain out West. I had them ship the paint to me. It’s an exterior semi-gloss. The Dunn Edwards folks recommended the semi-gloss because you need a durable paint for the kitchen. They also recommended that I prime the cabinets and I used a tinted primer. I used one gallon of each. I also added new pulls. Remember when I wrote about the choices? I ended up with the $6.00 pull from Anthropologie and I love them!

Photoshopping the cabinet color helped me make the decision to go with the charcoal grey (photo below). It’s a big decision and I wanted to pick the right color. While I’d love to take all the credit, I had my painter make the color change. While some people could manage painting their cabinets themselves, I know my limitations. Seeing the day dream become a reality has been satisfying. Now onto the next project!
